ECHS has always had students and staff involved in climate justice. In 2006, the year the school was founded, students went to New Orleans to do relief work for hurricane Katrina. This set the scene for a school that prioritizes climate education and hopes to get students invested in the environment. Every year 10th grade students go on a field trip to see salmon migrations and test river quality, learning about how climate change affects Oregon species. Students help run a farm on the Chemeketa campus and participate in many community service opportunities involving climate awareness and justice. ECHS is so excited to join Our Future and improve both our school and our planet.
