Food Waste Prevention Week: April 13-17th, 2026
WHEN: April 13th-17th, 2026
WHERE: Your School!
WHY: To raise awareness and take action to reduce food waste in our schools, our homes, and our communities. Plus, you can win prizes for participating!
This effort is supported by Our Future Oregon, a network of students pushing for climate action and justice in Oregon high schools. By participating in our Food Waste Prevention Week, you can earn prizes and raise awareness about how food waste contributes to climate change.
Below are some of the events we held last year, which will hopefully give you an idea of what a FWPW might look like this year:
Spirit Days: Dress up, have fun, and raise awareness!
Food Waste Audit: Learn what gets thrown away most at your school so you can create a plan to reduce waste!
Scavenger Hunt: A fun way to learn more about food waste and win prizes!
Eat Me First/Food Waste Fair: Visit a low-waste recipe table during lunch and take some recipes home to reduce waste in your family!
Quizzes and Food Waste Pledge: Test your knowledge about food waste facts and be entered to win prizes!
Movie Night: A fun way to get together with friends and like-minded students to learn more and eat free snack!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, we have funding for incentives and prizes! Please fill out the interest form today to learn more!
