Vision 2050:
Education for Climate Solutions

Vision 2050 is a team of students, teachers, volunteers and nonprofit and governmental organizations who support a local approach to educate middle school students about Portland’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, from 1990 levels.

program history

From Vision 2030 to Vision 2050

Originally titled “Vision 2030”, the program began as an educational partnership in 2019 between SAGE, the City of Portland, and many other organizations in an effort to make students more aware of the City of Portland’s Climate Action Plan and their and the state's 2050 emissions reduction goals.

As we transition leadership in 2026-27 from the nonprofit SAGE (program founders) to Partners for Sustainable Schools (PSS), the program is being retitled “Vision 2050”. This change reflects the ongoing and long-term commitment towards reaching climate goals and a vision for a healthy, climate-adapted and resilient Oregon.

about the program

Hands-on learning for a healthier, more resilient Oregon

Our team offers a free hands-on, interactive Keystone Lesson on climate solutions to middle schools students in the city of Portland, and we promote related lessons and projects led by students, teachers, and partners. We also partner with schools to organize fairs and events for students to learn about different climate solutions and job opportunities.

In May 2027, PSS plans to host a high-school level Climate Careers Fair in addition to the middle school keystone lessons and Fairs. Contact us if you are interested in participating in any of these offerings!
