Events and Communications Team

Events and Communications Team

Overview

The Events and Communications Team works with all other project teams to ensure that projects, events, and other initiatives are communicated to the statewide network’s partners and supporters. Additionally, the Events Team is responsible for organizing our Speaker Series, a series of free online events throughout the year. Events can include things like guest professional speakers, expert panels, networking events for students to meet and collaborate on climate and environmental actions, our annual Green Career and Education Fair, and more. This team also ensures that the work the network is doing is broadcast to the world through our Instagram page and our newsletter!

Past Projects

  • Each year, Our Future hosts an annual Green Career and Education virtual fair, bringing together community professionals as well as university and college representatives from some of Oregon’s best environmental programs to let students know about career options working in environmental and climate fields. Each year we broaden our scope to include more and more ways you can integrate a climate and environmental focus into a variety of fields, even those that aren’t directly related to that type of work.
  • We also host an Environmental and Climate Justice Speakers Panel, to learn about what types of ECJ work is being done in Oregon, what organizations are doing this important work, and how students can get involved.

"I've been able to connect Our Future projects with the environmental club at my school and have enjoyed seeing tangible results from our work, such as students supporting a bill and a compost system being implemented at our school."

Legislative Action

The Legislative Action Team is committed to educating and participating in Oregon's Legislative process not only within our network but statewide. We do this by participating and supporting bills through writing testimony, meeting with legislators, and in both rallying and testifying at Salem’s capitol.
